Kevin Casey
Senior Fellow
kevin.casey@thearcticinstitute.org
Kevin began his working life fresh out of college as a geologist with the US Forest Service in Alaska. His career there was cut short by an enduring interest in the Middle East that took him to Morocco to learn Arabic, Syria as a Fulbright Scholar, and eventually graduate work at the University of Toronto in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies. From 2009 to 2013, Kevin worked as a Social Scientist with the US Army, where he conducted operational and strategic research in places such as Iraq, Tanzania, and Botswana. His interests and expertise lie in complex problem sets like the Arctic where culture, politics, economy, and environment intersect and the challenges these problem sets pose to policy makers. Kevin is heading up TAI's production of The Arctic This Week and focusing his research on oil and gas development in the Arctic.
