Research interests: energy prospects and challenges in the Arctic, sustainable social and economic development of polar regions, law of the sea and maritime governance.
In her third year of studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia), Elizaveta chose to focus her research on Northern Europe. That interest quickly moved further north and led to a deep and profound fascination with the Arctic. In her fifth year, she spent a semester abroad at University of Tromsø (Norway) and then returned to Moscow to complete her final thesis on the Russian-Norwegian fisheries management regime in the Barents Sea. Following her graduation, she moved to Belgium to pursue a Master’s degree in international economic law at Brussels School of International Studies, where she dedicated most of her research to the main challenges of Arctic energy development from the corporate perspective. As a part-time intern at the International Polar Foundation, she also enjoyed being involved in a number of Arctic policy events in Brussels.
