Tom Fries

Tom is a born Mainer and the tip of a small branch of a large Canadian family tree. He currently lives and works in Germany. As a seasoned member of the think-tank community and an unabashed autodidact insofar as Arctic issues are concerned, Tom is a voracious reader who strives to separate information from buzz-speak. For the Arctic Institute, Tom provides weekly news briefings, conducts regular audio interviews, and serves in an advisory role. Tom’s formal education includes an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from the University of Virginia, where he was an Echols Scholar, and an MBA from Georgetown University, where he was a member of the selective Landegger program in International Business Diplomacy.
