Kathrin Keil wrote her PhD Dissertation at the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies (BTS) at the Freie Universität Berlin on the international politics of the Arctic, with a focus on international regimes and institutions in the areas of energy, shipping and fishing. She further has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the Technische Universität Dresden and a Master of Science in European Affairs from Lunds Universitet in Sweden.

Kathrin is currently a Project Scientist at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, Germany, in the Sustainable Interaction with the Atmosphere (SIWA) cluster.
